Don Finn is the Business Manager/Financial Secretary of IBEW Local 134. Don grew up on the south side of Chicago with seven siblings, one sister, and six brothers. Don and his siblings were raised with a great appreciation for working-class values and a passion for the trades. Don's father was a member of the Plumber's Union, Local 130, and a Business Agent for over 20 years. Don was interested in the electrical trade from a young age and entered the IBEW apprenticeship school in 1987. After completing his apprenticeship, Don was hired by Continental Electric and remained there until 1991. While working for Continental, Don served as a union steward and a foreman in charge of large projects for clients such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Northwestern Hospital, and Westbrook Corporate Center in Westchester, among others. In 2001, Don went to work for Cook County as a Bull Steward for all Local 134 electricians employed by Cook County. During his twelve years with Cook County, he co-founded and served as President of the Cook County Coalition of Trades, which still thrives today. In May of 2012, Don was hired as a Business Representative and he began representing employees who work for the Chicago Park District, UIC, State of Illinois, and Cook County. During his tenure, Don also served as the Local 134 Political Director, Recording Secretary, and Business Manager of Local 134. In addition to serving as a trustee for all of the Local 134 fringe benefit trust funds, Don also sits on the Board of Directors for various organizations such as Amalgamated Bank, the Chicago Cook Workforce Part Chicago, Catholic Charities, The American Heart Association, and The Good Neighbors of Lincolnway. Don currently lives in Mokena with his wife Joanie and they have four children.
