Mike Cassel is the senior director of Boeing Global Engagement (BGE) and State and Local Government Operations based in Chicago, IL. In this role, Cassel oversees enterprise strategy and programs for BGE, regional corporate giving and employee engagement for BGE’s Central region as well as government relations efforts across Illinois. Prior to his current role, Cassel served as director of Global Corporate Citizenship, Great Lakes Region. Before moving to Chicago, Cassel was based in Washington, D.C. and served as chief of staff for the State & Local Government Operations team. In this role, he managed enterprise public policy strategy and helped guide the company’s philanthropic strategy and charitable investment efforts. Cassel began his career at Boeing in 2011 as director of Strategy for Government Operations, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA). Previously, Cassel worked at the Export-Import Bank of the United States as deputy chief of staff to the Chairman and President. Cassel also served as the director of White House Services within the Office of Management and Administration for President Barack Obama. Prior to his time in the White House, Cassel worked on the Obama-Biden transition team and on President Obama’s first presidential campaign. Cassel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Arizona and received a Jurist Doctorate from the DePaul University College of Law. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Illinois Manufacturers Association, The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, the Civic Federation, and the Advisory Council of Becoming a Man (Youth Guidance). Cassel has been recognized by Crain’s Business Chicago’s 40 under 40 program and DePaul University’s 14 under 40.
