Oswaldo Alvarez has over 15 years of experience in the non-profit sector - ranging from ground-level program implementation to philanthropy and public policy implementation. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Chicago Workers Collaborative, a local nonprofit that promotes the creation of stable, living wage jobs in the Chicago region through leadership development, policy advocacy, and direct action. Before joining the Collaborative, Alvarez was appointed by Governor JB Pritzker to lead Illinois’ inaugural 2020 Census Office – helping the state achieve an all-time high self-response rate, and finishing #1 in the nation among states with over nine million people. A fluent Spanish speaker and a native Chicagoan, he earned his Master's in Social Policy from the University of Chicago and Bachelor’s in Economics and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
